Darryl is a Drama teacher and Head of Culture at Parel Vallei High School by day, with a passion for
his learners, school plays and the Playhouse Theatre (of which he is the chairman), by night.
Bryoni has been involved in theatre since her first show at The Playhouse in 2007. She has taken on
many different roles including dancing, singing, acting, stage managing, props, lighting and sound,
and most recently – script-writing and directing.
Backstage, Props Manager, Production Secretary, Stage Manager, Front of House volunteer
Caryl has been involved with the Playhouse for 9 years; it started with assisting with costumes when
her daughter was performing, and slowly progressed to helping backstage, making props, managing
props, stage managing and acting as production secretary.
HHDS Secretary, Actress, Director
Ann finds herself as Secretary of HHDS after 14 years with The Playhouse Theatre. She has won a number of theatre accolades for her contributions over the years and has also acted as an adjudicator for various local amateur theatre award panels.

Sue joined the Playhouse in 1981. She’s never been on stage but she’s done just about everything
else; she’s made costumes, made props, stage managed, cooked and washed glasses.
Jarred is the Head of Sport at Parel Vallei High School; he is an avid sportsman and hockey coach but likewise loves to step onto stage and into the spotlight. He has been in many shows at the Playhouse from musical productions, to dance shows and music showcases. In 2019 he also became featured male vocalist for Playhouse favourites; the Shiraz band.

Gretel Schulze-le Roux
Gretel has always had a love of theatre from a young age. Whether acting or directing she has
always been in search of the magic that the stage provides.
Having been part of a successful international recording band, The Dooleys, Anne, Bob and Helen
emigrated to Somerset West in the early 1980’s. Wishing to maintain their love for music in their
lives, they formed a band (later called Shiraz) and became a well-known crucial part of any local
function, including Carols by Candlelight and as the most popular participants in the Sunset Concert
Series at the Helderberg Nature Reserve.
Musical Director, Actor, Singer
Jon-Paul is a Life Science teacher at Hottentots-Holland High School following the completion of a
BSc in Human Life Science and PGCE at Stellenbosch University. He is actively involved in HH’s extra-
curricular Culture Department where he acts as Director and Musical Director for school productions, in early 2020 he also founded the school choir.
Sam first joined The Playhouse Theatre while in high school, working backstage assisting with
costumes and make-up, followed by a few minor roles in a number of productions.
