Caryl Currin

About

Caryl has been involved with the Playhouse for 9 years; it started with assisting with costumes when her daughter was performing, and slowly progressed to helping backstage, making props, managing props, stage managing and acting as production secretary. She will mostly be found backstage moving around set and organising props, but on occasion can be found helping out in our Front of House too.

Caryl has been living in Somerset West since 1972 where she attended De Hoop Primary School and Hottentots Holland High School. She graduated from Helderberg College as a teacher and taught at Die Wingerd Pre-Primary School for 16 years. She is now semi-retired and spends her afternoons homework tutoring primary school learners. Her hobbies are reading and crafting, but her ultimate relaxation is spending time in a game reserve amongst the wild animals, and if she is joined by her family, she is at her happiest!

The playhouse community is fondly known as their theatre family in the Currin household - everyone spends much time learning new things, laughing and crying (happy tears!) together. “The Playhouse is my Home from Home.”
