Jessica Matthews

Jess is a member of the HHDS Youth Committee and is a Grade 11 scholar at Rhenish Girls High

School where she is an energetic student, participating in numerous sporting and cultural activities.

Her commitment to her school’s hockey first team as well as the Boland A team shows her great

diversity. Jess is involved in her schools Drama Society who recently performed their own magical

take on A Midsummer Night's Dream. She is currently completing her grade 7 exams for violin, piano and voice. Jess has pursued her love for singing in various forms, having been a part of the Tygerburg Children's choir and having placed in the top 10 finalists for the National Divas Unite singing

competition, as well as numerous Christmas gigs with the Table Bay Hotel. She partakes in voice

eisteddfods annually and is often the recipient of cumlaudes and Category prizes.

Jess’ love for the theatre was awakened in 2014 when she was cast as one of the Annie’s in the

musical Annie; a role for which she was thrilled to receive a CATA award as best junior performance.

Since then she has participated in a number of productions and is due to be seen later this year in A

Slice of Saturday Night. Jess' love for music and musical theatre is something that she hopes to

pursue in her studies after school, and abroad, and she has great aspirations to perform on global

stages including Broadway.
