Help Out

To operate a community theatre it takes an entire community. We are most fortunate to have the beautiful Playhouse theatre in our midst which has everything a theatre needs to put on good quality shows even if done so by “amateurs’ = people who do not get paid for their performance.

It has seen many youngsters try the arts out and then move on to the professional stage. It has seen many more youngsters and older semesters enjoy a fulfilling hobby that brings entertainment to those in the audience. The importance of live entertainment cannot be underestimated.

Considering today’s bombardment with bits and bytes it’s a refreshing break for the senses to attend a live performance at a theatre. The eyes and ears are stimulated in a much more tangible way than via a flat screen.

If you want to help out, maybe a good start would be to come and help our front-of-house team during on of the shows. We constantly need people to sell coffee and tea, sweets, man the bar, usher, etc … Click on this button to go to our roster and see when and for what duty we are still short of people. Then simply add your name in the appropriate box and show up at the Playhouse 1 hr before the show opens. The FOH manager will explain you what your duties will be.

In order to keep the theatre maintained we need the help of everyone in the community. From as little as continuing to come watch the shows to sponsoring an entire season, whatever your capacity, everyone can do their bit to help us keep the theatre operating. The building is ageing and needs a lot of attention. We need to put a special maintenance fund together which is impossible to fill out of the normal operating budget which gets eaten up by high monthly bills for rates, taxes, electricity, marketing, etc.
